To open your new membership, we'll ask you for one piece of valid government-issued ID and one piece of secondary ID. Here is the list of acceptable ID:
ACCEPTED GOVERNMENT-ISSUED ID:
- BC Driver’s Licence with photograph
- BC Driver’s Licence with photograph and Services Card
Note: BC Driver’s Licence and Services Card is considered one piece of identification. A secondary piece of ID will be required. - Canadian Passport
- Passports from other countries
- Permanent Residence Card
- Secure Certificate of Indian Status Card
- Provincial ID Card (e.g., BC Services Card with photograph, BC Identification Card with photograph and expiry date)
ACCEPTED SECONDARY ID:
- Canadian Birth Certificate
- Provincial Driver’s Licence without photograph
- Provincial ID Card (e.g., BC Services Card without photograph)
- Provincial Health Insurance Card (e.g., BC Services Card, BC Care Card)
- Credit card (e.g., VISA, MasterCard, department store)
- NEXUS Card
- Certificate of Canadian Citizenship
ACCEPTED ID FOR YOUTH (15 YEARS OLD AND UNDER):
Youth applicants must bring their Passport or Provincial Identification Card (BC Identification Card with photograph and expiry date), plus one of the following secondary pieces of ID:
- Provincial Identification Card (e.g., BC Services Card, BC Identification Card without photograph)
- Provincial Health Insurance Card (e.g., BC Services Card, BC Care Card)
- Canadian Birth Certificate
- Student identification card (for applicants under 12 years old only)
